To a girl, her hair is a veil. Not one she hides behind, but rather a fine jewel that crowns her head.

Rapunzel’s Hair Growth Secrets!

Once upon a time, in a far away land lived a girl. And she held the secrets to beautiful hair. Well, this isn’t ‘that’ girl. But hey, I have a few tips of my own that would have even Rapunzel taking a few notes. So we’ve heard the story of the beautiful girl who was locked in a tower, with hair so beautiful that it was like spun gold. So why can’t we have that?! Well, we can and I’m not one to keep secrets to myself. Being of Indian decent I’ve been blessed with lovely long locks and I must say they are my best assets! I’ve always had long hair except every two or three years when I chop it all off and donate it to charity of choice. But that’s not why you’re here, you wanna know how to have long luscious locks! No problem.

You might think that clean hair is the place to start. Well, not necessarily. Washing your hair everyday removes natural oils that keep hair shiny and provides nutrients to each follicle.Try washing your hair every other day or every two days depending on how fast you hair gets oily.

Since we’re on the topic of washing hair. How many of you after washing your hair with shampoo add conditioner? I know I use to pile on the conditioner to make sure I get that smooth shiny look. Little did I know I was using conditioner wrong! Applying conditioner all over your hair weighs it down and prevents you from getting volume. Try this, apply a quatar size amount of conditioner (less if you have fine or short hair) to the ends of your hair. I would suggest from you neck down. Applying conditioner to the roots of your hair weighs the roots down. And honestly hair at the root is new hair that is well conditioned and has access to oils from your scalp. However, hair at the end is prone to split ends because of the lack of mositure and added heat. So add conditioner where it is needed.

Is it me or just the mention of split ends give you the hibbie jibbies! Split ends, well they happen when the ends of your hair…split. And I don’t mean hit the road, poof they’re outter here. But how do you get those split ends to hit the road? That’s the question at hand. The best way to get rid of split ends is to chop them off. Try this, get the ends of your hair trimmed every few months about half an inch or so. And to prevent them from showing up between visits to your hairstylist, condition them well and use a heat protectant when using hot tools (flat iron, curling iron, curlers, or a hair dryer).

Now is there a magic growth serum that Rapunzel used that helped her hair grow so fast! To my knowledge……no. And if you know of one please let me know! But there are some things that you can add to your hair to help it grow. Try this, add some coconut oil to your hair for a day. My mom did this to me when I was a little girl, she even caught my brother and lathered him up. Coconut oil has antimicrobial properties that prevents hair loss and hair from falling out. It also contains Vitamin-E which helps in keeping your scalp healthy.

Tip 5

How many of you are guilty of this. Washing your hair at night and going to sleep with it wet. I won’t lie, I know I’ve done it more than a few times. You’re tired from a long and all you want to do is hit the sack. But that’s a no-no. Wet hair over a long time is a feeding ground for bacteria. Try this, blow dry your hair before you go to bed. I know, its that simple. If your running out the house and don’t have much time, blow dry just the roots and leave the rest to air dry. Also, avoid putting wet hair in a bun, let it air dry!

That’s it! Try these tips out and tell me what you think. If you have any specific questions I’ll be happy to help you answer them, I’m no professional just a girl with a computer who googles stuff a lot. And remember to follow me!!!!
